A little while ago I posted a question on improving and extending the drain on my HF pancake compressor. I did a search on Woodnet, and basically copied what others had done and posted there, so credit to whoever that was...
Anyway, I wanted to extend the drain, making it easier to drain, especially when I enclose it (someday...) Anyway, it could not have been easier to do. I just used a 1/4" elbow, a straight piece (nipple?) and a ball valve. I wish I could "pitch" it somehow, or maybe I'll just put another elbow on it, but it seems to be working OK now. I do tip it when I drain it.
An added bonus is the condensation collects in the brass parts and not in the tank--well most of it, I guess. I don't lose any pressue when it is under pressure, so I consider it a success.
