    HF Nailer Question

I am looking at the HF 28 degree nailer kit on sale for $70 in the weekly flyer. Will be using it for basic 2x4 projects, etc. Nothing to justify spending more on a framer.

My question lies with the nails. Will any nail that falls in the 2-3/16" to 3-9/16"(length), .113" to .131"(diameter) work. I don't want to have to drive over to HF every time I need nails. Lowes and HD are just around the corner. A quick search shows PC, Paslode, Bostitch compatible nails. Do these work?

    Thanks
    Curtis

any 28 degree nail should work as long as it is the proper collation. i.e. paper, plastic, wire...

      Curtis,
I own that nailer, and have enjoyed very good performance from it. I buy my nails from the Depot, I believe their regular brand is Grip Rite. They will need to be the plastic collated ones, like these: http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/...ctId=100394346

I've successfully used 2.5in to 3.5in, .113 to .131, no problems EXCEPT: make sure your compressor can drive the gun. I had to upgrade my compressor, my little 125psi 20g DeVilbiss would not power the gun, so I moved up to a 150psi 26g DeVilbiss, no problems. I keep the regulator set a 90psi, and every nail drives perfectly.

Curtis - a correction on the nails - they should be the paper collated ones for the 28dg nailer; its my 21dg nailer that takes the plastic collated ones.
