    Router Table Top

Yesterday I cut the new router table top to size and will mount the router this week. I plan to add a mitre slot to it also. I have some UHMW that I will inset to be the mitre slot. I also plan to recess a threaded insert to install a removable pivot pin for edge routing - roundovers, etc. Are the any other features that would be useful? Maybe some t-track? This will be a replacement for my BT3K accessory table.

T-track would be useful, principally as a hold-down for feather boards.

I use an insert plate to mount the router. It's convenient for removing the router, changing bits, etc.

Other than that you're just looking for flat and smooth!

There was a recent thread (3 months maybe?) on T-track & Miter slots. Quite a few folks didn't really use the T-track.

I like mine for featherboards and such. I think a t-nut is a little more solid and safer than most of the types of devised that work in miter slots.

      Found the thread:

One thing I am adding to my router table (currently under construction) is a pull out work surface. You might consider this as you are setting up the table.

A nice fence and maybe dust collection.

Have you thought about dust collection on the inside? A lot of debris ends up falling below the table and having suction in there helps a lot.
