    Grizzly G0513 -- your thoughts?

i am looking at a used Grizzly G0513 on CL. resaw capacity of 12", 2HP, 120 or 220V.....

i am on the road right now, and wont get back in till sunday. i read the reveiws online and they are mixed (especially with narrow blades and the fence). however, they still give it 4 stars (out of 5).

does anyone have one here or know anything of this band saw. my 10" delta is giving me lots problems. so i want to get this one. i will be doing resawings, band saw boxes .....

    thanks for the help!

I'm pretty certain there are a couple of people of this forum that own the G0513. I have a brother of it that was made for House Of Tools in Canada. It's a great re-saw saw. Initially I wasn't that impressed but it was a blade issue. Once I started getting good blades it worked great.

      bob,

thanks for the comment. was it the next model up or down?

interesting, since there are no comments, does that mean that this is not a good bandsaw? i thought that grizzly would have been awesome, but its a little hard to find a lot of reviews on it.

With respect to BT3Central, I think it more likely means there are few, if any, owners of this model here (at least among the active regulars or semi-regulars). The overwhelming majority of BT3ers who own band saws have 14" and smaller models.

I have not seen one of these but I guess it depends on how much the seller is asking and seeing if he will let you try it out first. with a 2hp motor it should have plenty of grunt. I am sure you already know this but it currently sells new for $750.

FWIW, Last year FWW did a 14" roundup and the griz 457 got top value saw. I think it has cast iron wheels whereas the 513s are aluminium but otherwise they look similar.

If its on offer for a good price and it works well it may be a good buy.

I have the 5013. I haven't done a lot of resawing on it but it's working out
very well for other bandsaw uses. Mine is the 220V model. I have the base
model 5013. Not the X or X2 with cast iron fences and wheels. I'm not crazy
about the fence but it does the job. If I heavily get into resawing I'll
probably make my own fence. Right now I have a melamine fence that slips
            over the short factory fence.

Because I haven't done a lot of resawing, it's not completely tuned up. I do
not worry about power on this saw.

Check in the power tool section of woodnet.net. A lot of people over there
have this saw. You may still be able to use the Microsoft/Live/eBay as
mentioned in the Bargains section to buy a new saw for a good deal.
