    Vices...

    Good day

As you know...and if you don't - you know now...I don't have a "normal" workbench with Vices but, sometimes I need them.

So, I made a very simple, easy and cheap vices.

I leave it to your imagination what you can do with them.

The rest of the story is on the following 40 pics.

As usual Niki, it is an inspired design. I love the way you incorporate so many shop-built knobs into your designs. It is amazing how much cost little plastic knobs add to jigs!

      Niki, great post, as usual.

      But, I couldn't resist . . . .

If I had as many vises as I do vices , I wouldn't have room in my shop. One of my "vices" is mixing up words that are similarly spelled or pronounced.

      Regards, Steve

        Thank you so much

        Steve
        No problems
As somebody said "USA and UK are one nation divided by the language"

I posted it yesterday on the British forum and I was "corrected" that they are called "Vice"...

When I posted it on a US forum, I was "corrected" again that they are called "Vise"...

At that point, I went to the dictionary and checked:
        UK English = Vice
        US English = Vise

Oh, by the way...what in US English is called "Clamp" in UK is called "Cramp"...

Anyway, I don't think that my "Vice" has such a bad characters

        Regards

Thanks for the lesson. Even with idiomatic idiosynchrosies being what they are, that particular pair of nouns is particularly interesting and contributes to the fun of living on opposite sides of the pond. I can only guess how much fun Ray-in-the-UK has trying to interpret our language.

I wonder how the LOML would react to me saying that I didn't have enough "Cramps" and had to go to the store to get more?

Doesn't change the fact that it was, as always, a great post.

          Regards, Steve

            Thank you Steve

And if we are already at it....

LOML - in UK and Aussie is called SWMBO - She Who Must Be Obeyed
