Ryobi Lithium Battery

Anyone used this battery yet? Does it really have that much more battery life? Any comments welcome.

Bought one a couple of months ago and I use it with the Ryobi One tools. It supplies more power to all of the tools, and lasts longer.

Now having said that, I am kind of cheap when it comes to items like this and I just think that the price is too high to justify buying any more of them until the price comes down to about $60-$70 dollar range.

Still if your not cheap like me then the upgrade will not disapoint you.

yes and yes. I have two of them and fully plan to replace all my Ni-cad batteries with them. Well, maybe not ALL as I have 4 ni-cad. But 1-2 more Lithium. My ni-cad do not get used at all anymore. Also, the light on the front of the battery is very handy at telling you if you need a charge. No more popping in a battery that's dead. As soon as the light is yellow, in the charger it goes.

One of the great aspects of Lithium batteries is that they dont just last longer in use than nicad but they hold their charge longer when just sitting unused.

I have them in my camera and they way outperform nicad and even if a spare has been sitting in my bag for months it still has a good charge left. This way I dont get caught out or have to charge all my batteries before a shoot.

ah yes, the storage time as well. I just don't have enough good things to say about lithium batteries.

I ran sime unscientifc tests on the Li-Ions when I first got them using my
One + Canister vacuum. I fully charged two Ni-Cads and two Li-Ion batteries and ran the Canister vac on each until stoppage. With the Ni-Cads, the vac ran about 7 minutes at full speed and the finally died out at 20 minutes +. But the useable time was about 8 - 10 minutes, depending on amount of suction needed. The Lithium batteries lasted 13 to 14 minutes at full speed, and the the tool stopped, due to an anti-discharge circuit apparently built into the battery.

I have 3 Li Ions and 5 Ni Cads. I use the latter for my lights and radio, and low power consuming tools, and keep the Li Ion batteries for my high consumption, high torque tools.

I picked up a demo LiIon set for a good price a while back and just used the promo deal to get another charger and 3rd battery. More than enough difference to justify the cost!

Appreciate the comments. Everything I've heard has been positive about them.
Last Monday, picked up the Ryobi starter pak deal with the free tool (Lithium battery and charger) at HD. Used the battery yesterday for a short stint and was impressed with the lighter weight. Already have the cordless saw and 2 drills, so trying to sell the starter pak. At worst, I'll have backups of both if I can't sell them.
Have a project that will put it to more of a test this weekend.
