    Great support from Delta

Last month I jumped on the Delta 6" jointer/planer deal at Lowes and took home the last one on the local store...the display model. I essentially disassembled and reassembled the jointer to make sure all the parts were there, all screws tight, belt aligned, etc. One part was missing...the set screw with handle that insures the infeed table doesn't move once the depth adjustment has been made. All it took was an email to Delta asking for their help, and a followup with the serial number, and the new part was in the mail at no charge.

That's great customer support, and I though others might like to know about it.

I had to call twice to Delta for missing parts on the Lowe's Biesemeyer fence that we got last fall. I didn't have part numbers in front of me when I called the first time, but got almost everything. Had to call back for the last part. Lady on phone explained that since it was clearenced, I would still have to pay for the part (even though it was new with warranty), but she sent the part anyway. Never got a bill for it. Both times, the folks were very helpful on the phone.

I too took that jointer deal. Mine was dropped below $200, but was missing some parts in the cutter head. I scoured the web for missing parts. I had pretty much given up on the stock cutter head as the missing knife screws were out of stock until August. Well, this morning out of the blue I get a call from the nearest service center letting me know that they had located a full set for me. Pretty awesome considering I had a single conversation with a rep there about a week ago and she didn't think the prospect was high for finding any that another center had in stock. Needless to say this made me pretty happy to have a tool that is actually supported after the point of sale.
