    Woodtek wide belt sander

    Anyone ever heard of these? Any comments, suggestions, warnings?

      from the sound of his description, you'd be better of finding one of the old Ryobi's or looking at the Grizzly or Proformax sanders.

              Can't comment on that brand but I saw an ad a week or so ago for a Ryobi brand for $150 in Oxnard (I think, maybe Ventura). Pic looked like it was in good condition.

                  Just got back from looking at it. Nice machine. The drift of the belt is a bit of a PITA, but not totally bad. Guy seems to take care of his stuff. Gonna sleep on it.

                      It bares mentioning that this is a wide belt sander, not a drum sander. So direct comparisons with the Ryobi or Performax is a little misleading. Though they basically do the same type of work.

                      I have a Performax, and I've used a Timesaver. Both are nice machines. I use the Timesaver when flattening tables, and the Performax for veneers, and cabinet glue-ups, that sort of thing.

                          Keith, I couldn't figure out any practical difference between the two. Why would you use one vs the other, as you describe.
