    Ridgid 12" Slider Miter Saw

I'm thinking of buying a reconditioned unit at HD and wanted to know if anyone had an opinion on this. Trying to decide between a Ridgid 12" slider w/warranty at HD or a well kept Dewalt DW708 model from a local selling on craigslist.

    thanks.......

I have the 12" non-sliding Rigid and I am more than happy with it. Can't help you on the sliding model though..

I would urge you to compare the two before you decide. Ridgid miter saws are larger, heavier and bulkier than most of their counterparts. To some that would be a pro and to some it would be a con. They appear to be well built, but I lean towards Hitachi when it comes to CMS's.

I own a Dewalt 718 & love it. I don't know anything about the Rigid since I've never owned one. Sliding Miter saws in general are great.

I have and am very happy with my 708.

i've got a friend who has a ridgid 12 smcs and loves it. with the sliding, you can cut wider pieces than you would be able to than a cms that does not have sliding. its the added benefit.
