One of the complaints with Hitachi's KM12VC dual base router kit has always been, there are no instructions for use of the plunge base. Not once do they mention it in the owner's manual, except in the parts list. I'm sure experienced users could figure it out, but neophytes like me didn't stand a chance.
I contacted Hitachi about this, and was told they're in the process of correcting this oversight. They e-mailed me a copy of the plunge base instructions in PDF format. I'll be happy to e-mail it to anyone else that needs it. Just send me an e-mail, and I'll send a reply with the file attached. (I can't attach the file if I e-mail you directly using your BT3Central profile.)
I ordered the router kit from Amazon over the weekend ($129 + free shipping,) and it's due to arrive today. That's a pretty good value for a new 2-1/4 HP, 1/2" router with fixed and plunge bases. It also comes with a set of seven steel bushings, 2 bushings adapters (one for each sub-base,) centering bit, 1/4" collett, and an enormous case.
