Which Drill Press? Grizzly or Ridgid

Anyone have experience with either one? Both of these are listed on CL (different sellers) for the same price. Which one would you choose.

I reject your reality and substitute my own.

I think I'd go with the Grizzly. They both have the same number of speeds available but the Griz has the better speed range of the two. The Griz has a ¾HP motor compared to the Ridgid's ½HP. The Griz also out weighs the Ridgid 172# to 158#.

I'd have to agree with Dave. IMHO 50% more horsepower of the Griz trumps the additional 1/2" quill travel of the Ridgid. Good luck!

Bigger is better with drill presses. IMHO. Bigger motor, bigger speed range, bigger weight which means a more stable platform.

Nice find and hope you get one or the other.

Oddly enough, I'd vote for the longer quill travel - for me, this was important. I have NOT had a problem with HP in the Ridgid. Also, try to find the review that one of the wood working magazines did with regards to runout in the drill press. I know the Ridgid took top marks at the time, which is what sold me on it.

I think you should buy both and send me the one you didn't like
