Jointer refurbishing

I just picked up a 70's vintage powermatic model 50 off Craigslist. It has been in storage for the winter and is well used before that. Does anyone have some good links to share on how to restore it for use?

The ways look like they will clean up easily but without a manual, I am not sure how everything should be lubed and protected.

Here are a couple pics of what I have. I am really hoping that $300 was a good deal. He was selling the bandsaw and a drill press also but I ran out of cash. The plunger in the pic was not included.

Have you tried WMH Tool Group to see if manuals and/or parts breakdowns are still available? I'd bet they exist somewhere...

I have emailed the WMH tool group and await thier response. I also found owwm.org and it looks like there is a lot of good info there also.

Thanks for the link. Aundrea at WMH toolgroup replied with a manufacture date of 1982 and a manual with maintenance instructions and parts list.

Its running but I need to fix it up a bit before I want to try and push any wood through it. A running jointer is better than no jointer I suppose.

You are light years ahead of where I started with my Rockwell. The only thing I would suggest above normal maintenance is to replace the cutter head bearings. Yours may be ok, but it is good insurance.
