    Old griz 1019

There is sombody near me thats selling an old Griz 1019 BS for $75. I think its only a 3/4hp and probably in need of some TLC. there is a 4" riser available for $25 which would max this out at 10" resaw (if it can even manage it).

I was looking to get a new one but dont have the cash yet. do you guys think its worth even considering this old machine? its a lot less capable than any new one I was going to buy but at $75 (+$25) instead of $800 thats an interesting dilemma.

I had read an article in FWW from Michael Fortune. He is one of Canada's finest woodworkers. Michael claims that there is no need for a BS to have anything bigger than a 3/4 horse. Even with a riser, the 3/4 horse should be plenty according to Michael. He claims it's all in the tires and the blade.

Second similar thread I've read today. Same answer. Go for it. You have a minimum investment that you can probably recoup if you upgrade later.
