    Air Filtration Question

I currently use a Harbor Freight dust collector, a Ridgid Air Filtration unit and a Trend Airshield. I want to replace the Ridgid Air Filtration unit with one of the following: Jet AFS-1000, JDS 750ER or Powermatic PM 1200. The online reviews seem to suggest that the JDS unit is somewhat better built than the Jet but both the Jet and JDS get generally good reviews. The Powermatic does not seem to have been reviewed.

Do you have experience with any of these units? If you do, how well do you think it performs and can you buy the primary filter at either Lowes or Home Depot?

    Thanks

I have the JDS. It cleared the smoke from a smoke candle out of my shop in 2 minutes and seems to get rid of most of the dust in the air very nicely.

    Can't speak for the others.

Thanks for the quick reply Paul. About how large is your shop?

        18' x 22', 10' ceiling. Bit crowded in there!

I have the Jet unit and have no complaints with it.

            Dustman,
Yes, JDS is(was) rated highest by Wood Mag. I have that one and it does a really good job; I do a lot of lathe work and it keeps up with the dust of turning/sanding dry wood very well.

I also have the Jet unit and have no complaints. I got it on a heck of a bargain, that was my major motivation. If you can get the JDS cheaper, it's supposed to be the best.
