    Which jointer to buy?

Since LOML has a couple projects for me, they of course require a new tool. I've been jointing with a router but have really needed to get a jointer anyway.

So, which jointer should I get? I've narrowed it down to either the Rikon 6" 20-110 or the Jet JJ6CS with the Jet having the lead. I've always been happy with any of my Jet equipment but have no experience with Rikon. I've read mostly good about the Rikon and any issues seemed minor. The Jet seems to be well regarded from what I read.
I'd appreciate any input from the people here to help me decide before this weekend. Thanks.

why not a grizzly? The jointers and planers are considered to be among the best in the industry.

I've read good stuff about those but I don't have anywhere locally that carries them as far as I know. Things like that I need to touch and examine before I buy and I prefer to pick it up rather than wait for a vague delivery date.

I have the 8" jet and so far so good. A little rough on the casting where it doesn't matter, but it does a good job of making a straight board. I think you'd be happy with either of those choices.

I've got the Rikon Deluxe 6", and like it very much. Has plenty of power and the rack/pinion fence with micro adjust is very nice, although those used to more conventional fences might take a little time getting used to this one. If all your jointing is at 90 degrees, then you won't notice either way. Only thing I wish is that it had a bit longer beds. I haven't had to horse any really long stuff through it yet, but I can see how longer beds would be a plus.

I did see in one of my WW mags that Griz has an 8" p-gram jointer with spiral cutter on for a good price right now, so if you want a nice hefty one, you might check that out.

The Jet design is well proven. The Rikon looks good too, but has a much shorter field history. Can't really lose with either...check warranty, price, and any mechanical advantages, and go with your gut.
