    Bosch RA1181 Router table

Does anybody else have this Bosch router table. I have been having issues with leveling the plate. I am not sure if it is just tough to align or wether the ground alluminium table is not quite flat.

If there are other owners out there what are you experiences?

I have one, no problems with getting mine level, but I've heard of others having problems with warped plates (likely poor machining). Check the flatness of the plate itself, both top and the mounting points on the bottom.

I recived a response from a question top Bosch on this table and though any other owners would be interested in their repsonse. Here its is......

"Thank you for writing. Regarding your inquiry relative to the flatness of the router table top, the top is to be within .040" flatness overall, preferably convex. However, the .040" could be entirely concave and still be within
specification. In addition, there are many combinations and possibilities in between the maximum limits, i.e., .030" vertical and .010" under nominal. If the table is evaluated with a straight edge, the measurements must always be from any outside edge to the center. If the table is crowned .040" in the center the measurement is only to be taken to the center. If the measurement is taken across the diagonal or side to side and the table is crowned, the measurement observed must be divided by 2. If the table is concave then any reading would be measured to the center and be the measurement observed."

So according to Bosch as long at its within .040" its flat......

Anyway I pulled mine apart and the alluminium plate was in fact pretty flat. Using my "True Blue" (not a perfect straight edge but its closer tha 0.040" :-)) I could see that the right hand end 3" (infeed) was lower than the rest of the table by about 0.15" so that was causing my straight edge to rock. I painstakingly reinstalled the plate and tweaked the adjusters so now from after that initial 3" its within 0.005" of flat across the plate and through the outfeed surface.

So I guess I am lucky to be so much better tha 0.040"!!!!
