i was trying to set my miter saw, the hitachi 10FSH, on the miter saw stand.
when i have the blade down and pushed back (still have 3/4" or 1/2" to push back), the blade touches this gray piece. it seem to be made out of plastic, but am not sure. there is another angled piece behind it. it seems like the blade should stop at that angled piece instead.
there is nothing about this in the manual. do you know if what is happening is correct? is the blade suppose to cut through it the first time i use it? what is its purpose? anyone who has a saw like this, do you have the same thing happening to you?
thanks,

. that guard is like more than an inch away from the fence. i did not measure it, but i will.
... That's a zero clearance insert, Omar. First.. if you haven't cut into it and are going to change the blade.. take it off until you have the blade on you intend to use. If you are going to use the Hitachi blade... crank it up and fire away.
