    Ryobi 12" DP

Anyone have one of these? My local HD has a floor model marked down to $119....looks decent for the price. Any comments or alternatives appreciated!

I just took back the dp120L from ryobi. I found the drill awful loud and one handle came off in my hand. Others have said the same. Anyway, the one your looking at is the older one. Here is a link on popular mechanics drill press reviews. The dp120 is in there.

I have this one. Not bad and not real good. I find it ok for wood work but if I was doing critical work in metal the run-out is unexceptable. Vibration is a problem that stems from the belt and could be cured with a link belt but it's an odd size 5/16. I think it's good for the price. I paid $149 for mine and I don't regret it. (yet)

I stopped and looked at it again. It's missing the Ryobi decal and the key for the switch....neither are show stoppers by any means, but they looked like bargaining chips to me.

I've had this DP for about 4 years - paid $149 for it. I use it all the time and I've been pretty happy with it. I've been pretty lucky, no vibration. If I was doing a lot of heavy duty work, I'd buy a bigger floor standing DP but so far the little Ryobi benchtop has performed admirably.

              Good luck.
