Sears may split off Craftsman

Considering Sears actually manufactures none of the Craftsman tool line themselves, I'd think that they would face a contractual nightmare with the people that do the actual manufacturing for them. Some of those manufacturers probably already have contracts to make tools for some of the retailers that Sears would like to market the Craftsman line through. I'm sure that all of that could be overcome but it certainly wouldn't be an overnight occurrence.

Considering the condition of Sears Holding Co and Kmart I have been wondering what might become of the great Sears/Craftsman spare parts service. Not many manufacturers offer such variety and age depth for replacements. Don't know if it could generate any profit on its own as a stand alone business but sure would be a loss.
Maybe a separate Craftsman tool and yard machine company could survive and keep the parts also going.
