Question about HF Third Hand Support

What is the metal tab with the S hook for? I just picked up two of these tonight and can't seem to figure out what purpose the tabs have?

By the way they are on sale with the email coupon for $7.99 a piece.

    Thanks

To attatch something if you want to hang. For example, a drop light.

I have four of these in my shop and four of the much more expensive ones from one of the big woodworking supply places. For my money, the HF ones are much more versatile and much easier to use. I used two a few weeks ago to hang floor to cieling plastic in a hallway to create a dust barrier while I was sanding drywall. They worked great. I have used them to hold up cabinets, to help me put drywall in place, to hang work lights, etc. I am thinking of going and getting a coupel of more just for good measure.

Seems simple enough. Wonder why I didn't think of that.

Four years ago I paid $39 each for units identical tho these.

They're really handy for installing crown molding. I can put up 16 footers all by myself.

I'm going to get a couple more of these to make a little spray booth in my shop.

                Thanks for the link!
