Triton MOF001 ???

What are yor opinions on the Triton MOF001 router ?? Woodcraft has them on sale for 189.00 plus the accessory kit free. Good or bad ???

This is the "smaller" one of the two that Triton make - I have one of each - both reside in router tables.

I paid about US$300 for the MOF001 when I got it - WITHOUT the accessory kit $189 sounds like a great deal.

I love them both - soft start, speed adjustable -and- above-table bit changes

I bought the original Triton because my big router broke part-way through a job. Once I'd bought it I realized how good it was, so I wrote a review on it. The only thing it wasn't great for was using on a Leigh D4 dovetail jig - then the MOF001 arrived - perfect! I wrote a comparative review on that too. Remember that I bought both these routers with my own cash - then someone pointed the European Manager of Triton at my reviews and I was persuaded to demonstrate for them.

So, whilst I may now be considered to be biaised (and even though I declare myself as a demonstrator), my enthusiasm comes from the machines themselves, not from any desire to sell them. Consequently, my recommendations are personal, as well as professional.

To directly answer your question, it was awarded both "Best Features" and "Best Value" in Fine Woodworking Magazine's test of routers for use in router tables (Edition 189, January, 2007). The other routers tested were Bosch 1617EVS, Craftsman 1617-12, Freud FT1700VCE, Milwaukee 5625-29, Porter-Cable 891 and Ridgid R2900.

The above-the table height adjuster is not a necessary addition, because with the plunge spring removed (a 10-second job), the built-in rack and pinion is more than adequate, coupled with a micro-adjuster which works instantly throughout the entire height range. However, the above-the-table, auto spindle-locked, single wrench bit changing is a KILLER feature.
