    #8 Question

I recently picked up an old Millers Falls #8 jointer plane, and I want to get it tuned up and sharpened. The tuning is coming along fine, the problem is with the sharpening. The iron is too wide for any of my "cheater" honing guides. I'm not experienced enough to do it freehand. Are there any wide-iron plane users out there? What do you use to set the angle for sharpening?
    To do is to be.

I use a #7, but already had my Tormek setup when I got the plane, so I've never had to use a hand-hone jig for it (my Veritas jig is good up to 2-3/8", which works for a #7 iron, but not for the wider #8).

Edit: Here is a link for a guide that will do the 2-5/8" irons for the #8.
