    Ryobi planer dust collection

I have an old (I believe it is the 1300 not the newest model) Ryobi Planer. I am happy with the job it does but am not happy with the "dust collection" There is a plastic dust chute that I attach my dust collection hose too that won't stay on no matter what. It is heald on by 2 little screws that just don't seem to be strong enough to hole it with a heavy hose is attached.

Has anyone out there fixed this?

You might double-check to see that the dust cute is installed correctly. I use a shop vac with mine and while the air flow is not as good as it needs to be, at least most of the chips get pulled away from the planer.

I know that a lot of those DC moldings for that model distort easily, or come packed that way (mine did). The keyhole slots do not stay engaged well with those crappy elongated screw/knobs on the planer. Since I keep my DC adapter on the unit all the time, I made a more permanent fix by adding washers below the screw/knobs to hold the DC chute better. Works fine that way. Collection is good, but I do hook it up to a DC rather than a shop vac.
