    Hitachi Belt/disc sander

    Hi,

Like many of you here, I picked up the Hitachi Belt disc sander thru the Amazon deal at $79.

I also own the Ridgid OSS spindle/belt sander and was honestly wondering why do I need the Hitachi when I already own the Ridgid?

But, it was a heckuva a deal so I bought it regardless of need.

But here's the thing - I love this new sander. The dust collection with the bag is so good, I don't even hook up my collector to it. both types of sanding have great dust collection with the included bag directly hooked up to the sander port.

Also, the disc allows for much more detail type work than you'd be able to do on the Ridgid unit as it's belt spins so fast, it's a little scary trying to sand small pieces on the ridgid belt.

And the Hitachi's belt side is handy as well for quick stock removal and tweaking.

Great sander for the price, and has earned a spot right next to the ridgid and I use them both, but for different needs.

Now I've got to try and built a small table for the belt side as the CI table that came with it stays on the disc side.
