I bumped one of the pads that holds the fence tight against the rail today and it...fell off!!! When I checked the other one , it was loose and came off with little encouragement.
Apparently this is not a new problem. The pads are glued to the power coating and repeated compression from locking the fence caused the coating to start cracking and eventually fail. IMHO its a very poor way to attach parts and others have run across the same problem. Biesmeyer fences don't appear to have this problem - the pads are bolted on.
On Monday, I'll call Jet, who will likely send me new pads with instructions to use two-part epoxy to glue them back on the fence. However, I'm not real pleased at this moment.
