    Bosch 3107DVS Reconditioned 5"

Have question about Bosch 3107DVS 5" Variable Speed Random Orbit Sander/Polisher.

Is it possible the Pad is warp causing the polisher to spin like an unbalanced washing machine? Or, there is an underlying problem with the machine. While I try to sand, it seems to wobble up and down in addition to the rotation at slow speeds. Definitely feels like it is broke compared to a Rotex 150 that I tried for 1 minute in a store.

Any advice would greatly be appreciated, except to buy a Rotex. LOL.

Going to use to sand son's bar top(Red Oak Flooring) and try to polishing vehicle in the spring.

    Thanks,

    Mike

Having replaced a few pads on Bosch 1295 thus somewhat familiar with the design of the pads, I would say no. It is more likely an issue with the machine.

Comparing the machine to the Rotex 150 just isn't fair! LOL! You should be comparing it to the ES 125! 6" Rotex is just a whole different ball game. And as you noted a very expensive ball game!

BTW, anyone know if the Bosch 1250DEVSis a new product? Seems like it would be in direct competition with the Rotex 150 yet I have heard nothing about this machine.

There is no way I would polish a car with a 5" ROS. I think the polishing action is more for paste waxing wood surfaces.

Did you check the allen head cap screw in the middle of the pad? This particualr sander had a real problem with these loosening. If you can find the right size lock washer for it, put one on!
      HOpefully it's not too late.
Also, be sure to call Bosch service. I have gotten excellent service from them in the past.

Thanks for the replies. The problem was defiantly the pad, installed new pad and wobble decreased ten fold.

Was still concern that the machine felt like in had a wobble during use? Since I had no experience with a Random/Orbit Sander, I took it to the local woodcraft store. Guess what the machine was fine, if not more than fine. They really like how smooth it felt. Oh well I guess I was a little concerned after the first Pad being defective.

CPO Bosch was more than willing to exchange unit for a new one, but would not send me a pad. Bosch would not send me a new pad even thou I told them it was distorted, I needed to take the unit to a service center first.

Since I didn't take the ROS to authorized service center, even thou I explained to him on the phone about my conversation with a Local Authorize Service Center. Previous sent an email before calling, but never had a reply back other than the standard we will get back to you in 2 business.

Sent e-mail wed, called thur, received pad monday. I guess your right Bosch Customer Service is good?
