    Another mini review

    I bought a Rikon 50-110 B/D Sander today. It is a 4X36 belt and 6" disc.
The only thing I can compare it to is the Ryobi BD4600 that I had in my last shop. The Ryobi worked well and I probably would have bought another but no HD in the area were stocking them.

The Rikon was easy to assemble even though the instructions were a bit vague.
The vertical adjustment for the belt is far better than the Ryobi and it has a bit more power. The disc table is decent and the belt tracks well. I was not impressed with the fence assembly for the belt. It my be OK but I will never use it so I didn't take the time to install and adjust it.
I think I will be happy with it.

I may be in the market soon. My Delta is giving me problems again.

I tend to set the belt verticle and use the table on mine. Con the Rikon's table be set up on the belt?

The table is only for the disc. The belt fence work no matter where the belt is tilted as it attaches to the belt frame.

Dick, I missed your answer first time around. Since I use the belt like an edge sander most of the time, I need a wider support that the fence provides.

Maybe I can tighten/patch the old Delta up one more time and hold out for a biggger machine when the new shop finally goes up.

Ever used a narrower belt sander?

I've been trying to decide between a 4x36 and 2x42 as I have a 3x21 that I rigged up a mount to hold it.

Considering I do a wide range of work, I know the narrow one comes in handy for some things, but can't decide (watching for a bargain).
