Powermatic Table saw switch
I was at Western Tool Supply store and for the first time I had chance to look at Powermatic table saw. What a saw! More than the saw I like its switch!! It must be 50x times bigger than BT3K switch. Can you buy that thing separately?

I don't know about buying it separately, but it's is basically a knee switch to me. I use it that way all of the time, bump with my left knee and turn the saw off, which is just dandy!Keith Z. Leonard

The better Powermatic saws have a full magnetic switch which is much larger than normal On/Off switches. I have no idea what it would take to wire a magnetic switch onto a saw that didn't come with one. All of the machines I have seen with the magnetic switch are 220V also. The magnetic switch protects the motors from power variations that can jump the amps. It also prevents the machine from restarting on its own when the power goes off and then comes back on again.Tom Hintz

I migrated from the BT3k to a Powermatic 64 due to the BT motor blowup. I miss a lot of features from that little saw. One, being the switch. For some reason, it seemed to be placed in the perfect location for me.
The PM is all right, but the ease of the BT switch was much better to operate, without thinking about it even.
I also miss the dust collection of the BT.
Oh well... Another day, another headache.Comment
