If anyone has a Protech portable dust collector, can you tell me what amps it is? Mine is stamped with a number that is so light, I can't make it out. I am laying out my shop and need to know the amps to not overload the circuit. Also, what is your experience with this unit. Seems pretty weak, but need to live with it for awhile. It looks exactly like the portable unit sold by Woodcraft but the Woodcraft might have a more powerful motor. Thanks.

6.5 if mine is the same as yours,
this is a little thing on wheels with a single bag out the side dust collector, right?
edit> I just checked out the Woodcraft one-it looks the same except the housing on my Pro-tech is a tan color.Last edited by aluminumfury; 09-27-2007, 12:18 PM.Comment

thanks for the info
I appreciate you taking the time to send the pic. Are you using this and what has been the performance? I bought mine on a close out and needed one and not too much cash since I am starting a shop and buying everything new. Thanks, JakeComment

I got mine on clearance, too.I think it was $60.
I use it for my planer and jointer mostly. They are both near the garage door and I roll the dust collector out into the driveway and let it collect the shavings and sawdust.
It never has had a problem keeping up with either machine, and until I started reading about different dust collectors online-I was completely happy with it.
Now I know about all of the cyclone systems and larger HP cannister equipped machines and I want one of those sytems, but the little collector has really done its job so I can't complain.Comment

I have the HF 1 HP portable dust collector. I am sure it is very similar to this one. I don't have room for a full size DC, so this one is nice. I keep it under my outfeed table, and move it around anywhere I need it. I have been very happy with it.Comment
