permit me the smallest of gloats

Just grabbed a Jet JWBS-14 open stand bandsaw, like new. Stylish old school blue paint job from days of yore. 3/4 HP. Smooth. Made in Taiwan.

225 and included a couple of the dullest blades I've ever encountered.

That is all. Pictures will follow after I wrestle it downstairs into the shop.

that should be a pretty major gloat! congrats!!

i am on the lookout for a bs myself, but it'll need to be a very steeply discounted one. a local CL-ite had the same JWBS-14 for 399, and then dropped to 380 upon my bargaining . he actually ended up not selling it, but never did reduce it further... goes to show how well you did...

Consulting the archives, Stan got his for 150 minus a motor, so I figured I wasn't too far behind the pace car with this one.

Looking at his table gives me a few idears too. I may have to do a DIY version of that.

        Rob,
I'd say you made one heck of a score there.... Congrats. (I put almost that much into a new motor for mine).

I know how you guys are, no pics, didn't happen. So here you go.

No rust on the table, just a bit of discoloration.

Open stand with the motor hangin out and catching a breeze.

The guy didn't even take off the sticker with the selling points.

This motor is seriously heavy. And quiet.

Lots of support for the blade, and way way (way!) easier to make quick adjustments than my Craftsman bandsaw.

I'm going to love this thing. I expect to make bandsaw boxes for everyone for Christmas. My 12" saw was too wimpy to pull it off, but this thing can tear it up with a dull bade, I can't wait to try a sharp blade.

          What's that sucking sound?

Nice score. Call Iturra Design in Jacksonville for some good blades, and also some tune-up parts, if you wanna soup up the saw. If you can get one of their catalogs, it's a virtual textbook on band saws.
