Picked up a Tradesman 6 1/8 inch benchtop jointer at a yard sale today. It looked like new and I got it for thirty dollars. My question for the esteemed panel is this: Where do I get knives for it, and is there a comparable model marketed under a different brand? Need a manual, too. Thanks.

Some of the Tradesman tools (a couple) are rebranded as Craftsman. I would suggest that you look at their benchtop jointer and see if they are the same. Otherwise, if you can measure the length, width and thickness of the blades (how many) perhaps someone on this forum can provide some info.
There are a number of benchtop jointers and maybe you will get lucky and their blades will work.

Just measure the knives. Most places selling aftermarket knives sell them by size, not brand. I suspect you won't have any trouble finding them. I know Infinity Tools (www.infinitytools.com) is one I inow sells them primarily by size, plus has a good reputation for thier products and service.Tom Hintz

Just measure them as stated.. With only a few exceptions, most 6" jointer knives are the same. Same for 8" jointers. Again.. the measurement will confirm your's is or isn't, but I would bet on "is".
A good, cheap source BTW is Sunhill Machinery. Very decent knife at a better than average price.Comment
