Help: Can't Find Bandsaw Tension Release

Can anyone help me out? I need a Bandsaw tension release lever. I know Carter sells them for about $160. I want to make one. I have a recollection that I saw an article on making one, but I cannot find it. Help!

This was a project, I think, in one of the woodworking mags, that was a shop-made bandsaw quick release tension device. You basically follow the plan, end up with wooden stuff on the back of your bandsaw, and wa-la, no need for the $$$ Carter device!

Ok, did I dream this, or what? I have looked through every index of every wood mag I could think of -- no luck. Please help. I get irked when I can't find an article I remember.

I remeber seeing that somewhere from a few years ago. A quick search on the web turned up some pictures from one that someone made. It looks sort of familiar.

Wow: Quick response! Not sure if that's the one.

I like it! Thanks for the link. I thought the one I saw was a BIT more involved. This one concerns me regarding the pulling outwards when releasing.

Perhaps the reason I cannot find it, is that is was as simple as the one shown. If that is the case, perhaps is wasn't a major (listed in the TOC) article in a magazine, but an answer to a reader's question, or a solution sent in by a reader. I did not look for those in my old issues.

Still wish I could find more.

Bill E (I believe) on Woodnet came up with that one. A search over there should find it.

              Another Variation by Bill Esposito

This is another version by the same man. This is the one I am going to make. It gives more clearance for that center part. It can be down loaded as a pdf file.

I think that looks pretty good. I thought about making it myself.

Do you happen to have a list of the Grizzly parts needed for that modification? I have the HF bandsaw and would love to try that.

                    Thanks!
