Just saw a Ryobi ad in the new Wood magazine. Apparently they've come out with a Lithium Ion battery that'll interchange with all the old 18v NiCad stuff. This sounds like a pretty sweet setup, have anybody actually seen this stuff yet???

What page? I just perused (big word of the day usage) the latest issue yesterday and could only recall seeing the page where they're promoting their 35 interchangeable tools (full page, right side). No ion talk.
Thanks,

Page 25. It's green -- reminds me a bit of the Hitachi designs.
There's a web address -- but it's rather odd. It has a register.com banner and a monster.com ad at the top, "Coming soon to Register.com" declaration, copyright by register.com, and Firefox blocked FIVE popups . Also there's a slew of links to kolmic.com. See for yourself at ryobilithium.com. The domain does appear to be registered to Ryobi Technologies, Inc., though.
You think they jumped the gun on this ad? =) No ad for the 35 interchangeable tools in my magazine. Maybe one of their printers screwed up. But now we know about their plans! =)Last edited by Alex Franke; 08-22-2007, 07:37 PM.online at http://www.theFrankes.com

The batteries will be 2.4 amp-hours.
The battery and charger is going to be $99.
Drill, flashlight, 2 batteries and charger for $160.
The kit pictured below (four tools, two batteries and a charger) will sell for $260.
Having six batteries and seven of their "One-Plus" tools already, I have no desire to switch over (already have the "old" version of the four new tools and they serve me just fine.)
BTW, The color looks identical to the WORX brand IMHO

Didn't see the add, but one of the mags I get has a small write up on them. I have been thinking about switching to Lithium Ion but the cost has been a major deterent. Maybe a new player in the game will bring the price down some.Don, aka Pappy,

$99 for 2 batteries and a charger? That's a pretty good deal. I'll definately upgrade to them when my ONE+ ni-cads go out.
But man, are they ugly. On the plus side, they will be easy to find.PhilComment

These batteries will require to be charged on the new charger. However, the current batteries will be able to charge on the chargers. The new batteries will also be compatible with the older One+ tools. Upgrade kits will be $99 for 2 batteries and a charger as stated above. Tools will be available by the end of the month or first week of Oct.Comment

Thank you, mysterious new poster!
I'm looking forward to picking up a couple of these. My current batteries are just about dead. (I have the 18V set that came just before they started using the plus sign.)online at http://www.theFrankes.com
