A neighbor in our condo plat is having to move due to health reasons and has offered me the opportunity to go through his garage and clear out anything I want prior to an auction house hauling the rest away. He is a retired journeyman carpenter for The University of Wisconsin and although he has already sold off most of his large tools, many treasures remain. Today I hauled off about half of his cabinets, all with doors, drawers, shelves, etc. Oh... and the drawers were almost all full of stuff like screws, nails, drill bits in series and quantities, punches, driver bits, pipe clamps galore, hinges of all types, dowels, nuts, bolts, washers, C-clamps, screw clamps, large rolls of brown paper, you name it. Most treasured in todays find is a pair of Stanley 131 "Yankee" screwdrivers and a no. 35 "Yankee" screwdriver, all with multiple bits including straight flute drill bits.
Tomorrow we will resume the "dig". He's got a twenty drawer unit he got from an old store in the 50's all with dovetail drawers that's chock full of who knows what. I also spotted an old milwaukee sawzall, all metal body. Plus old Rockwell hand planers and large power drills. Heavy...Heavy duty stuff.
When I walked in there I told him maybe I could offer him a couple hundred dollars for the whole lot to just get it out of there for him. He said lets get to it and I've been pinching myself ever since. I'll keep you posted.
