    Wagner Paint Crew Feedback needed????

I was looking at this sprayer since we are moving into a new home that will need a lot of interior painting.

Is this worth it in your opinion? I really can't afford the professional priced sprayers.

    Thanks for your input.

    Paint sprayer

I had one and sold it before I used it. Wagner has been around for a long time. I bought an airless and was very happy with it and still own it. Before you buy, have you thought about renting? Lowes and Home Depot both have rentals.

I havent used the sprayer, but I have one of the Wagner power roller setups and I love it. You can spread a lot of paint with very little splatter and easy cleanup. You just drop the pickup stinger in a gallon of paint, turn the thing on, press the button on the roller until paint loads the roller and start painting. Keep the roller loaded by pressing the button on the handle occasionally. For interior walls and ceilings, for me, its a much better choice than spraying.

I bought a Wagner Conversion gun from Gleem Paint Co and really like it. It is HLVP and can be used with pressure pot.

Love Wagner painting products. That said, I have heard (talking to one of the guys in the paint dept of a big box) that they have had some problems with reliability. For whatever thats worth!!

Getting back to your question about using it inside, I agree with Dennis that the power roller is quite a good unit and cuts about 40% of normal rolling time. Plus, you don't have to do all of the masking off. I would think that there is quite a bit of overspray for using it on the inside.

if your house is empty and you can mask off everything then a sprayer is very fast. it will use about 1/2 to 1 gallon extra due to priming the system and cleanup. when you factor in masking, pump cleanup, and wasted paint it can sometimes make more sense to use a roller and tray on rooms that you are only going to paint the walls. ceilings are much easier with the sprayer though.

you'll need to to be able to spray out of a .013-.015" tip for interior use and a .017-.019" tip for exterior use. it looks like it comes with a 413 (4"x2=8" wide pattern .013") tip which will work fine for interior but is a minimum size for spraying. for interior walls I'd use a 513 or 713.

if you are just planning on using it for small occasional interior jobs it will probably be ok.
I've used a graco magnum xr-5 and it works great, ideal size for any interior projects and just a little small for exterior but it gets the job done.
I don't care much for wagner products but that is because of repair parts availability with a piece of wagner industrial equipment I used to maintain. their homeowner stuff is probably ok.

              Wagner "Paint Crew"

Having just finished painting my house (ext.) using the Paint Crew, guess I can speak to it. My w/w'ing buddy and I went in halvies on one from Lowes, for a total cost of $184 w/ tax. He has some out-buildings he wants to paint and I wanted to repaint our house, garage and various sheds. So didn't think $90+ was a bad price. Our house is 53 x 29 one story, garage is 30 x 24 and with several sheds all-in-all I put 20 gals of basic color on. After getting the "hang" of using the gun I found it to be the best thing since "sliced bread" as far as painting goes! The one we got also had a power roller included but haven't used that part yet. One thing I would certainly spring for would be a 360' swivel as the high pressue hose is a bugger to use with a fixed (no swivel) gun. Overspray was a bit of a factor but after some practice you can pretty well get around the masking by using a piece of tin as a shield; just holding it against the piece you don't want painted and then spray. Clean-up is howwever, another story! It's just tedious and time consuming, but very, very necessary. Instructions that come with it are clear and detailed. Good buy!
