    Which Drill Press?

    My requirements are simple:
    Minimum of 3" quill travel
    Bench type
It will only be used on wood

I have found 4 that look good to me and they are all priced close together.

    Grizzly G0485 @ $189.95
    Rikon 30-120 @ 199.95
    Harbor Freight 38142-7VGA @ $194.99
    Craftsman 21914 @ $179.99 (on sale, reg $199.99)
the quill travel isn't listed in the Craftsman specs so I will have to measure it at the store

Shipping is not a factor as I have stores for all within driving distance.

I have the Shop Fox that is the twin to the Griz you posted. It has a nice beefy chuck and smooth as butter. I like the idea of the LED on the Craftsman but it would be my second choice. The Rikon looks a bit toyish to me.

    Just my two bits!

I needed a drill press really quickly for kitchen cupboard door handle hole drilling. I was going to put together the pa-in-laws cast off doo-hicky for a standard drill. Then, I was "just looking" at Rona when I saw that a new doo-hicky was $54 and the GMC redeye tabletop was only $80 (Canuckian). One no brainer purchase later ...

The problem you may have is that the spindle travel is only 50mm. About 2 inches.
