    Bosch Ra1181 router table

I have a bit of a problem that I haven't seen before. The table is aluminum as you know. I was getting black on the wood while using and tried the usual cleaning methods. I waxed it and still got the black on the wood. I rewaxed and let it sit for a few days to get solid and still got the black transfer. The BT3000 never had this effect and my other aluminum tools didn't either after cleaning and waxing. I'm thinking of a poly coat. What do you guys think? I really like this table and will post a rewiew after I solve this issue. P.S. I even used Heptane/Xylene for cleaning with no results.

    Thanks, Cork

I think you could try shellac or poly to seal it up.

I'd say it has to be that black paint on the table. I think the paste wax may have made it worse due to the fact that Johnsons has a good amount of solvent which probably desolved the paint even more.

I would not shellac or poly an aluminum table.

I would suggest washing the top real well with steel wool and mineral spirits. Take that black paint off if necessary.
