    Spokeshave to card scraper?

I have a spokeshave that needs work. Since I never plan to shave any spokes could it be reground to use as a scraper?

Probably, unless it was edge tempered, in which case you would probably be grinding into the untempered area on the ends to mount a straight edge. Usually, an edge-tempered blade will have a darker discoloration following just back of the edge by an eighth of an inch or so. Not a common practice, but it does happen.

I'm going out on a loooong limb here, but that's not unusual.

IMO I think the blade is too thick to use as a scraper. In addition to filing the edge flat and burnishing a burr on the thick edge, flexing the blade as in scraper use would be impossible unless you are secretly a superhero!
