    Hold-down clamp for...everything

    Good day

There are many methods and instruments for "Hold down clamps" and I think that I know most of them including the "You can buy at..." method that I don't like so much

So, I made them myself to fit to the my jigs.

As you will see, it's so easy and cheap to make them and you can even use one, for a few tasks.

If you have any ideas for improvement, I (and I believe, everybody) will be happy to hear.

    Regards

For the drill press table, if you had a t-track channel installed you could use the usual "toilet bolts" to make the hold downs more flexible in terms of placement and size of object being worked. Otherwise, it looks to me like you'd either have to have a channel cut in the middle of the arms to let you slide them in/out (makes them weaker), or else have lots of different size arms and different t-nuts placed in the work area. That being said, for a production run or a bunch of similar sized pieces, would be very very handy. Now, if I can figure out how to get this to seat into the 3/4" holes I have drilled in the workbench without infringing on Veritas's patent...

You are correct but I don't have any problems so far. As you can see, I can swivel the clamps so they will fit almost any board (up to some width).
My fence is 3/4" high and usually I drill boards that are thicker than the fence. for thinner boards, I can use some small piece of "extension" under the clamp.
I don't have any experience with T-track...we just don't have them here...

About the 3/4" holes in you workbench, maybe you can take a piece of, say, 2" x 2", push a T-nut at the center of the piece and screw it under the bench table over the hole with 1 screw only, so you can swivel it out of the 3/4" hole when you need to push a bench dog in the 3/4" hole, the rest is like on the pics...

          Hope it helps
