I think it's an awesome innovation myself. If they sell and go into regular production, I suspect they will sell for less than CI-topped tools. Good, flat CI is expensive to produce.

I wonder how much depth of cut the granite top saw gives up. Normally a thicker top = lower blade protrusion = less depth of cut.

I had the same question. I can only surmise that they will relieve the underside in order to provide a little more clearance in that area. Of course, if they cut it down too much, the stone could get fragile in an area that can take some abuse during operation, and kickbacks.
