I think that is just what they are made for. I have had one for 3-4 years and that is how much I use it. Not a powerhouse but it works.

For light duty use, I agree, they are useful. I use mine for taking the blade off my riding mower. It's hard to block the blade, easy to hit it with the impact wrench. I tried mine on a flywheel puller of my boat and it did not have enough force to get the flyweel off. Should work fine on lug nuts but you may want to tighten them by hand if you have aluminum wheels. My cheap impact wrench has essentially no force adjustment.

I have one of the air impact guns from HF, one of their beefier ones rated at 700 or 750 ft-lbs of torque, for half-inch sockets. It is a US General one, comes in a brown box, model 91832. I've had it for a few years and it works fine. I've used it on car lug nuts, on flywheel bolts (wow, makes that job easy), on hub support nuts which are factory torqued to 280 ft-lbs... imagine them after 20 years! This gun spun them off in seconds flat. I have no qualms about recommending it.

It has a few torque settings but I do not use it to re-install lug nuts. I always use a hand torque wrench for those.
