It seems to have excessive play in the blade clamp/holder in the vertical direction and it is not the shaft. Anyone else have this problem? I see no way to tighten the clamp. The blade does lock. With a 6" blade it moves a total of 1/2". I have 0 movement in my Milwaulkee Hatchet 18v(non-orbit setting) and corded super sawsall.

No, but only used a few times for pruning with a Skil"Ugly" blade. That play is almost 1" b/c of the longer blade length.AndrewComment

The blade lock seems to work but very loose in the direction of pressure on the blade if cutting. I wonder if they have plastic in the clamp and heat & pressure causes it to become loose.AndrewComment

From what I saw, it looked like the plastic release lever presses against a metal lever on the clamp when you release the blade. When the blade is clamped the plastic lever doesn't touch the metal lever at all, so it appears that the clamp itself is spring loaded and is as tight as it can get.
I may try returning mine. My 1+ Jigsaw clamps blades crooked and my variable speed trigger on the impact wrench is off a bit. So far, I'm not impressed with Ryobi.PhilComment
