Ridgid belt sander owners. You too err.

I am in the market for a belt sander and was reading some of the old threads and noticed that member err just bought one back in April and was hoping to get a review on it. Course anybody else that owns one would be more then welcome too. I was looking at the Makita, PC and DeWalt but for various reasons just have it in my head that I like the looks of the Ridgid not to mention the life time warranty. I would get the DeWalt but it's just too darn expensive for no more then I'll use it. Can't find a Makita local and the PC just seems to bulky. I can get the Ridgid for $159.97 at HD. Anyway would appreciate any reviews on the Ridgid.

    Mac,
Have you seen the compact PC belt sander? It has gotten real good 'reviews' from users. Around $120.

I just got a flyer from the Rockler San Diego store and they have the small PC belt sander on sale for $119 plus they give you a $25 gift card. I have no experience with the PC sander just passing info.

Thanks rags for the info. That seems like a pretty good deal but I'm needing a 3x21". I already have a little 3x18 Ryobi which I assume would be more powerful then that PC and still need more power so will have to pass on that but thanks for the info. Yes Ken I have seen it and would really like to have it but you know, the old money thing and the wife says I can't have everything. Anyway I do have a thing about sanders I guess so certainly have noticed it. I've played around in the stores with it and tried every which way to justify buying one but just can't do it. Now the 3x21" I actually need so that's a different story. No the thing is I really am leaning towards the Ridgid but sure would like to hear what some of the owners think of it. I may just have to order the Makita after all. I know for sure that it's highly thought of.

I bought a Dewalt DW433 for a specific project. It was a floor demo so a bit of a deal. It was okay to use. Shredded a few belts before I figured out the setup. I usually find an excuse to do something a different way to avoid using it. I'll get out the ROS first. I think for me the problem with belt sanders is they take two hands and I'm usually leaning over whatever I'm sanding. Makes my back hurt just thinking about it. Anyway, not much of a recommendation for it plus I have no experience with any other belt sander.
