    Questions before buying another saw?

With the soundtrack of Eddy and the Cruisers playing in the background....

I've spotted a Rockwell Unisaw locally, for sale ($200), and have emailed the seller. Besides finding out if it's single or three phase, and what type of fence it has, what should I be asking?

    Thanks
    Randal

If I get it, I may be parting out my BT soon.

Is the table rusted or pitted? Does the tilt and height adjustment work properly?

If everything works and it's a single phase, slightly rusted and pitted, it's well worth the $200.

The nice thing about a Unisaw is that parts are still available even if some of the mechanisms need help. At that price you could replace quite a few and still be getting good overall value. Good luck!

        Good morning Randall..

If you've spotted it "locally", I would go look at it and then you don't have to rely on questions and answers of someone attempting to sell with their version of the truth. The guys have already given you the basics on what to look for. At $200.. unless it it a total rust bucket.. trunnions broken.. mechanism gears stripped.. motor fryed.. then $200 is a good deal if you don't mind spending some time and breaking sweat.

The "proof is in the puddin'".. go look at and taste the puddin' and you will either find it to be "sweet or sour". I won't buy a piece of machinery sight unseen based on the sellers opinion as I learned my lesson years ago.

        Regards...

Call to police, give them you license plate and desription of you car, tell athem you have an emergency, and GO! At $200 you don't want to be the second one there if it is in good shape.

I am not saying where it was posted, but you can guess. I emailed him for the address.

Pappy, I think I will take my BiL, since he is a police officer, he can drive a little faster. Of course, he will probably want the saw to, for one of his sting operations, LOL.

Isn't it worth that for the scrap metal? I'd have the afterburners on to take a look if it was local.

                    Update

I emailed him and didn't hear anything for a bit. Found out someone posted it over on Woodnet, so I ended up with LOT'S of competition, and got the email back it was sold. I am sure he is glad he didn't post his address in the original ad, by the response.

Instead of Eddie and the Cruisers, NOW, I am feeling more like Maxwell Smart....

Would you believe, missed it by that much.
