All-In-One clamp not locking

Has anyone had a problem with the All-In-One not locking? The 36" All-In-One clamp I ordered came in Friday and when I started to use it today 5/21, it won't lock. It did not appear to be damaged from travel, and being so simple to use, lay on wood, snug up, push down on lever and lock that I don't see how it can be the "operator's" fault! :-) Any suggestions or do you think I just purely and simply received a defective one? In any case, I thought I would check to see if anyone else has had a problem with an All-In-One and solved it. I don't want to return it if it really isn't defective. Thanks

I bought 2 of the 36 inchers awhile back and they have worked pretty well for me. They're not always as smooth as I would like, but I'm able to lock them up pretty well. I also thought they should be pretty straight forward to figure out when I got them, but I read this guide in the link below and it helped out.

I have the 48" but don't have that problem. Just went and looked at mine and the problem (if there is one) would almost certainly be on the end opposite of the handle. Try this test: Turn it over and put your thumb against the end that moves and try to lock it down. It should apply pressure against your thumb. Mine has three locking tabs inside the rail so you may want to make sure those are not jammed. Hope that helps.

Thanks so much for the info. I don't know why I didn't think about hitting their web site. Anyway.......That was it! It WAS an operator error!!! I knew I could find some good info here. Thanks again, you don't know how you've saved my day!

Now I wonder why they couldn't put that info in with each clamp they sell????

I'm glad it worked out for you! These clamps keep coming in handy for me. Just the other day I needed to trim a little off the bottom off of a closet door with a circular saw because we installed new carpeting. The clamp worked great. You're right about how helpful this site is. In fact this is where I originally got the link when I needed it...

For the same reason that the instructions on their saw plates are almost totally incomprehensible and have mysterious diagrams.

Probably the biggest gap in quality between product and instructions I have ever seen.
