    Delta Unisaw in Estate sale

Neighbors down the street have moved and are having a sale at their old home. In it is a Delta Unisaw that is priced at $1000, with an extention table to the right, all on a moble base, plus another extention table to the rear. I really don't need it or have the room for it but my "want it" is acting up. I haven't researched the Unisaw but have read some posts about it here and at other sites in the past. The people running the sale are saying the owner has about $3000 in it with the accessories. I'm not versed enough to know what to look for. Any hints, or is anyone near Dunnellon FL that would like to see it/buy it? I think the last day of the sale is tomorrow and prices could be lower tomorrow if not sold today. What's a guy to do.

What fence is on it? Any idea how old it is? It could be a reasonable deal, but doesn't appear to be a "couldn't pass it up" deal.

I tried to edit my OP but my ISP (Comcast) went down for a while. I went back over to take another look after some of the crowd left. It is a model 34-802 with a 52" Unifence (36-906). I think it must be a 1994-1995 model, 3HP. The SN begins with 95A.., it has a magnetic motor control panel, the outfeed table hinges from a frame at the back and the right table sits on the moble base with the saw. I didn't see a blade guard but there are various tools scattered around so I might have missed it. Doing a search on the net I found that Norm has used the same model on NYW. I did buy the DC that was attached to the Unisaw. It is a Penn State DC1B-XL with the felt bags. It was $100 and I got 2 Delta blast gates, an extra Y and hose with it. After I took it home and went back I overheard some others asking about where the DC was.
Back to the Unisaw, after looking at other threads I guess it may not be a good deal unless the price comes down. It weighs about 500 lbs, uses 230v, and isn't something I would want to move once it was set up. So my "want it" is cooling some. I did mention to the LOML about converting the 3rd bedroom to an A/C'd workshop. She smiled and said "Yes, dear." A guy's gotta have his dreams, right?

        Yup, born in October 1995.
It would be a very good deal for $800 - 850. if in good condition.
Check it out, make sure it runs well and all handles turn, etc.
Unisaw has great resale potential, I would expect it to sell quickly.

I have that model of unisaw. Mine came from a cabinet shop going out of business auction for $650. The only accessories it came with were 1 cast iron wing, uni-fence, and a miter gauge. It is a sweet machine

            Morning Lanny...

Not a great deal for a used saw when you can get a factory re-conditioned for around $1100 that has been gone over anything that looked out of sahpe got replaced.

I purchased one for $999 from Redmond & Son Machinery here in Atlanta in the fall. It had the Uni-fence.. a new motor.. new trunnions (this is what you wanna watch on a Uni-saw as it's 5 component trunnions can be damaged in shipping if thrown around by trucking and jolted).. table re-ground.. factory warranty for a year.. etc.

So... as mentioned, not a steal but an OK deal. I would offer $850 and sit tight if they don't have any takers. At that price not bad at all... but go over the mechanisms to be sure that all is in order even before you pay $850.

            Regards...

Thanks for the replies and info. $650 sounds like a good deal, Jim. So does $999 with the re-conditioning. The good thing about this one is it is just a couple of house numbers down the street, so no shipping charges or worry about shipping damages. It was still available late yesterday. I'm going to wait until lunchtime and go over to see if its still there and what price. I don't need it and my "want it" has cooled so it would have to be a great deal. I feel sorry for the owner as he didn't want to move or give up his woodworking equipment, but his wife's poor health made the move necessary.

Update: They dropped the price to $800 with $52 tax, so $852. I passed on it for now. It didn't sell as far as I know so I will watch for the owner to return to clean out the house. Maybe I can get a better deal without a middle person getting a sales commission. I noticed it has a Forrest blade. I also tried the blade tilt and height adjustments. When the blade was all the way down it was just below the table surface and seemed to detent, as it took some effort to start it back up, but once started upward it was very smooth. Is this normal on the Unisaw or indicate needing some service? Thanks for any info.
