Anyone have experience with hand nailers

I need something to drive nails for some decking projects and other projects in the basement/unfinished closets, but don't want to spend $250+ for a decent framing nailer. Plus, depending on the project I may need several different size nails which this would accept.

I can swing the hammer, but it gets tiresome.

i have one its great for driving nails in hard to reach places like under and eve i've also put in 60 penny ring shanks pole barn nails with it and it did outstanding but you had to watch or you would drive the nail in at an angle
and not get the head sunk all the way

HF brand for half the price. I haven't used either but am thinking about one for some joist hangers that a nail gun won't work. If I get one I'll probably go with the HF unless I find some horrible reviews, which I haven't yet.

The HF that I work for has sold a fair amount of them. I haven't seen any returned yet.They are on sale now for 39.99, be worth a shot at that price.

I picked one up from Homier at one of their traveling shows and it has worked just fine - (see www.homier.com and do a search for item 02743 - probably the same Chiwanese factory that makes the Harbor Freight version, but cheaper at Homier

I got the Bostitch from a friend for free (great price!). I love it when i need it. Best advice: practice on some scrap first. Takes a little practice & getting used to.

I just bought the same one up here for $116 Canadian delivered. It was great for my new firewood shed. I didn't practice first and some nails are at a useless angle.

Uh, yeah. Should have mentioned I wore a pair of anti-vibration gloves from Lee Valley.

Bought an HF one about 2 years ago. Used it for a project where the quarters were tight, haven't used it since. Problem is I forget about using it as I have various othe sized nailers. But for $40.00 bucks, less a coupon, it's pretty cool and works well. For a cramped space, it's the only thing.

Bought the HF one to build a very large deck. Loved it. I think I had a tear in my eye after the first few joist hangers. No problems and I really didn't notice the vibration that much.
