    Old Benchtop Belt Sander

OK Guys , I have a chance to pickup a very old bench-top belt sander. Problem is the person who owns it has no idea what size belt it uses.
Question is is there a spot on the sanders where they say what size belt to use?Let me know what you guys think.
    Thanks

There should be a label or plate somewhere on the machine that tells what
size belt is needed for it. If not, get the name of the mfg. model number and serial number and check on Old WoodWorking Machines .com should be some info there that would help. eezlock

You can also just measure the width of the wheels and measure all the way around them like where the belt would ride. 4" wide belt that is 24" long is what the Ridgid OSS uses. Its a 4x24 belt. Its all really that simple.

Two of the most popular are 4"x36", and 6"x48". If you can get the brand and model number, it would be a start.
