    Unisaw Value

There are three for sale locally. One is advertised at $150 and looks like it needs some TLC but reportedly works. The others appear to be in good shape and are advertised at $1000 or so. all appear to be cabinet-style saws and two of the three come with extension tables.

I've checked on Amazon and see some Unisaws advertised there at $2k and some at $1k but I don't see why there should be such a huge difference in price for what appear to be largely identical models.

Main differences involve the drive mechanism.. motors can be 1 3/4, 3 or 5 HP, belt drives can be 1 or 3 belt, power required can 115 or 230 volt depending on the motor. The balance of the difference number, type, size, and material for table extensions.

I'd be on that $150 Unisaw like white on rice.

I've chimed in here a couple of times about this. I wouldn't buy a Uni new at 2000$. The powermatic has a better feature set at the same price point. Now used, you can get some great deals. I would definitely check out the 150$ unisaw, no question.

It would have to be a pretty tricked out used Uni for $1000 IMHO.

I'm sure by now the 150 one is gone, but I would probably have immediately dropped whatever I was doing to go buy that one.

              Morning Jack...

I would a little leary of $1000 for a used one, unless it is a factory re-conditioned one which is about the going price. Around $1100-$1200 usually depending on who's selling it. I purchased one recently after uncrating it and going over it recently for $999 which was a favor for demo'ing bandsaws for the dealer at the Atlanta WW Show earlier this spring.

They normally sell the factory reco for $1100. It had a new motor and complete new trunnions. And the top had been re-ground to flat. Also came with a Biesemeyer fence. Good deal that I couldn't refuse even though the Uni-saw would not be my choice at full retail price.

              Good luck...

Thanks, Sarge. That's helpful. I guess I'm a bit confused now on the relative merits of Unisaws vs. Powermatics vs. Grizzlys vs. the Sears cabinet saw.
