Well, it worked for me!
At least that's what Steve (scmhogg) said I did to earn one of his signature leather strops. (I had posted a chisel holding jig for sharpening on a Ridgid OSBS a while back.) I was pretty envious when LarryG got his; thought I'd have to bone up on obscure tool trivia for Steve's next challenge.
On top of this being the nicest strop I've ever seen, it came at the best possible time, as my new Veritas plane blade doesn't fit my old store-bought strop:

The next picture doesn't do justice to the sweeping grain of the oak with lignum vitae trim -- sure sets a high standard for something that won't leave the shop (at least it better not!):

I haven't decided where to store the new strop, but here's my first thought for the old one:

Well, maybe I'll keep it around for jack knives....
